Three things have to be compliant for the euro character to be available:
| your operating system, | |
| your printer and | |
| your office software. |
MS Office 97: Word 97 will automatically send a character as a bitmap. Excel 97 needs a change in the registry to do so. The other applications behave like Office 95 applications
MS Office 2000 fully supports the euro symbol and also has the euro conversion function in Excel.
MS Office XP. Same as above, with the addition of extra gizmos.
Let's check whether you can produce the euro, then! Do you have a euro character on the keyboard? Usually it can be found on the '4' key. If so, hold down the [Alt Gr] key, found to the right of the space bar, and press the euro key. In Word or Excel, a euro symbol appears.
If you don't have this symbol on your keyboard, then try pressing and holding [Alt] whilst you type 0128 on the number pad. When you let go of the [Alt] key, the euro symbol should appear.
To display currency in Excel with the euro symbol, download the Excel 97 Euro toolbar button from http://download.microsoft.com/download/excel97win/patch/2/win98mexp/en-us/euro-xl8.exe. After the executable file downloads, run it. Open up Excel, go to Tools, Addins, and choose Euro Formatting from the list. A euro symbol button should appear on the toolbar.
