A Two Day Course
Course Objectives
This course is intended to enable users incorporate animation and vector
graphics into their Web Page designs.
Course Outline
Introduction to Flash
Overview of the Flash interface; About Vector graphics and Pixels; How
Flash integrates with web pages
Drawing Tools
Draw, edit, and move shapes, using the Pencil tool, the Rectangle tool,
and the Arrow tool; Colour and transparency effects; Create and apply
custom gradients, solid colours, and transparent colours
Introduction to Layers
Create, lock and unlock, edit, and arrange layers and make them active,
visible, or invisible
Importing Artwork
Import a colour set and import and edit bitmaps and Flash Player files.
Trace a bitmap and use the Magic Wand to make selections
Symbols, Instances, and the Library
Convert artwork to symbols, edit symbols and instances, and use the Library
to organise the assets for your movie
Animation
Tweening - creating motion based and shape animation; Use the Timeline,
and creating an animation. View and edit multiple frames on the Stage
and create a motion guide, a mask, and a Shape Tween; Create a movie clip
symbol with its own Timeline; Setting stage size, colour and other movie
properties; Working with movie clips - self contained interactive animations;
Controlling movie clips using the Tell Target action; Creating a pre-loading
animation.
Scenes, Actions, and Buttons
Use Scenes to organise your movie, create multiple-state buttons, and
attach actions to frames and buttons; Buttons - animated, adding sound,
adding interactive actions
Sound
Insert event sounds and streaming sounds, to synchronise sounds, to change
the effects for a sound, and to specify parameters for compression; Working
with audio - understanding audio compression and quality issues - using
MP3 compression
More Actions
Use editable text fields for forms and to use sophisticated actions such
as getURL, Drag a Movie Clip, and If Frame is Loaded
Publish
Use the Publish feature to prepare and export Flash files; Dealing with
non-flash browsers; Publishing movies - creating various content types;
Testing your movies - testing Streaming performance.
Pre-requisites
People wishing to take this course are advised that they should have some
experience of building and publishing web pages using products such as
Dreamweaver.
